Learning to do more with less is easier said than done. Most people are the way they are due to habits they learned over a lifetime. In order to minimize the clutter, you have to start with your habits. Once you change your habits, you can change your life while living with less. Let’s take a closer look at this concept.

Habits for The Minimalistic Life

Habits are known to be the root of all progress, including a change in one’s progress. In order to get more done with less, you need to change your habits to accommodate your goals. For example, if you have a goal of working out at least an hour each day, then you will need to take that time from other areas of your life. This is done by changing your habits. So, if you have a habit of sitting with the newspaper for a half-hour in the morning and browsing the net for a half-hour in the evening, those habits will need to go. By changing these 2 simple habits, you will now be able to implement 1 new habit that will help you reach your goals.

Start Your Changes Off Small

One of the main reasons people fail at changing their habits is that they try to do everything at once. Just like it takes time to learn a habit or skill, it will also take time to unlearn it. By choosing one or two habits to change, you will make it easier to follow through with your efforts of living your priorities. The slower you go at the start, the less likely it is that you will fail. As you master smaller changes, it will motivate you to adopt even more habits that will eventually lead to bread success.

Focus on The Most Important Tasks

Always start your day with the top items on your priority list. When you make the most progress on your important items, it will give you the motivation to handle the small stuff. One way to keep yourself on track is the list out your three most important tasks for the next day. Make sure to only list those that are critical to your goals and those that take an hour or less to complete. Target these first at the start of your workday. That way, even if the bulk of your day is not productive, you will have made progress that is considered critical.

Until next time,

Be well.
